Magical Morocco

Winter ascent of Mt Toubkal, ride a camel, relax on the beach, and shop in the souks!

Morocco is a short step from Europe but a world away. It’s an eclectic mix of African, Arabic, Berber, Spanish and French influences. Marrakech is a lively city with street entertainers that include drummers and snake charmers!

We head up into the High Atlas Mountains to stay in the village of Imlil, before trekking to the mountain hut below Toubkal. The following day we climb up to a mountain pass and practice using ice axe and crampons. The day after we climb the snow slopes and valley to the top of Toubkal, where the challenge of getting to the highest mountain in North Africa at 4167m, will be worth while! It’s an amazing experience climbing in a winter wonderland.

No trip to Morocco would be complete without riding a camel, which we do, on the sand dunes of Essaouira. There will also be time to relax on the beach and visit the harbour and the ramparts of this beautiful walled city.

Finally you can lose yourself in the souks shopping in Marrakech. Buy a fez hat and drink mint tea!

This will be a week to remember, an African adventure!
